Dr. Dóra Gajcsi

veterinarian

Since her childhood, Dóra has been particularly interested in exotic animals, especially birds and reptiles. Over the years, she has raised parrots, reptiles, chinchillas, and squirrels, so it was only natural for her to specialize in exotic animal medicine during her university studies.

She graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, and later obtained qualifications as a specialist veterinarian for exotic animals (2022) and an animal welfare veterinarian (2023). During her career, she has worked in several animal hospitals and private practices, and between 2017 and 2024, she managed the Exocenter exotic veterinary clinic in Pécs. Dóra has also worked as a veterinarian in smaller zoos, where she gained practical experience in treating numerous species.

Her main area of interest is parrot medicine, with a particular focus on the medical and ethological background of behavioural problems. Currently, the daily care, training, and observation of 18 rescued parrots helps her combine her practical experience with her professional knowledge.

For Dóra, animal rescue, species-specific care, and ensuring the welfare of exotic animals is not just a profession, but also a deep personal commitment.

She is a regular organizer and speaker at seminars, lectures, and the Budapest Zoo Veterinary Conferences. Dóra also lectures at the University of Veterinary Medicine and is known throughout Europe for her expertise.
